Fake Cop Tries to Pull Over a Real Officer — Instantly Regrets It
In what sounds like a scene straight out of a comedy movie, a man pretending to be a police officer made the mistake of pulling over a real, on-duty cop — and the situation unraveled in seconds.
The bizarre traffic stop reportedly occurred on a sunny afternoon when the impostor, driving an unmarked car equipped with flashing red and blue lights, signaled for a vehicle to pull over on a quiet stretch of road. What he didn’t realize was that the driver he was trying to stop was an actual police officer — and a K-9 unit officer at that.
Body camera footage captures the surreal exchange as the uniformed officer steps out of his patrol car to confront the man. The impostor, dressed in tactical gear and holding what appeared to be a badge wallet, initially tries to sound authoritative, demanding to see “license and registration.” Within moments, however, his tone changes as the real officer questions his jurisdiction and asks for his department credentials.
When the fake cop can’t produce a valid police ID, the real officer quickly shifts gears, instructing him to step out of the vehicle. “You’re talking to an actual police officer,” the officer can be heard saying. “And I don’t think you are.”
According to the department, the impostor had been posing as an officer for several weeks, allegedly conducting illegal stops to intimidate drivers. Investigators later discovered a stash of fake badges, flashing lights, and tactical gear in his vehicle — all purchased online.
While the situation could have turned dangerous, authorities said the real officer handled the incident calmly and professionally. The suspect was detained without resistance and is now facing multiple charges, including impersonating a law enforcement officer, unlawful use of emergency lights, and attempted coercion.
