DEPUTY KALEB MITCHELL,24,MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE WHILE TRYING TO SAVE LIVES. HE LEAVES BEHIND ALITTLE BOY WHO IS TWO YEARS OLD AND A LOVING WIFE EXPECTING THIER SECOND CHILD.

A quiet Saturday morning turned into heartbreak for the Forsyth County community when a young deputy lost his life while heading out to serve and protect.
Deputy Kaleb Mitchell, only 24 years old, was on his way to meet fellow deputies for a call just before 6 a.m. when tragedy struck. According to investigators, a pickup truck traveling at an extremely high speed suddenly crossed into his lane along Walnut Cove Road in Walkertown.
Authorities say the driver of the truck, 20-year-old Bryan Castillo, was reportedly driving close to 100 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone when the vehicle drifted into oncoming traffic and collided with Mitchell’s patrol car.
The devastating crash claimed the life of the young deputy, leaving behind a family facing unimaginable loss — a 2-year-old child, a wife who is five months pregnant, and a brother who also serves with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.
Initially, Castillo was charged with several traffic-related offenses, including reckless driving and causing a deadly crash. However, after further investigation, prosecutors decided to upgrade the charges.
Forsyth County Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough said the loss has deeply shaken the department and the entire community, calling it a heartbreaking reminder of the risks officers take every day to protect others.
